JBS Couros launches Essntial collection

JBS Couros, the world’s largest leather processing company, has launched a new collection of products made with an even more innovative base. Named “Essntial”, it is environmentally responsible and uses up to 70% less water and up to 40% fewer chemicals in the retanning process during production. In addition, the products emit a floral or woody scent. The launch collection consists of leathers for upholstering furniture.

Essntial is the creation of the Kind Leather brand, which aims to produce leather of the same or better quality than that available on the market, using fewer and fewer resources – such as water, chemicals and energy. This new technology promotes a new concept in leather by exploiting the sense of smell. The two scents – floral and woody – were created by the Research and Development (R&D) team at Conceria Priante in Italy, based on research into 26 different types of essences.

“The name Essntial reflects the meaning of the products that will be created with this technology, which is to use only the essentials to produce the leather. In addition, adding an aroma that is very delicate generates extra curiosity in relation to production and has the potential to attract the market,” says Guilherme Motta, JBS Couros CEO.

“The innovation was born from the premise that the new generations value experience more than the property of material things and, with the aroma aspect, we seek to make the consumer’s interaction with leather unique and memorable,” he adds.

In addition, JBS Couros maintains its commitment to social and environmental responsibility, ensuring that every stage of the Essntial production process is monitored and tracked using JBS360 Leather ID technology.
